Closebanded Yellowhorn
Colocasia propinquilinea
May 18, 2003

This is a common hairy-eyed noctuid at my lights.  The orange antennae have always led me to wonder if this is what the moth is named for - they being the "yellow horns".  But, having never seen the caterpillar, I can't rule out that it is named for a characteristic present that stage of life.

If anyone knows - would love to have the mystery solved.
